We know it’s easy to simply follow in our parents’ footsteps when it comes to cleaning. They used certain supplies and tools and got the job done, so why is there such a big push for fancy devices and “clean” supplies? The modern world is all about conveniences and environmental responsibility, and that includes the cleaning industry. Why spend three hours cleaning when you can spend two hours cleaning? Why use bleach when you can just use water? Don’t know where to start? Check out these modern cleaning supplies:
Wireless Vacuums
You are going to want to toss out your heavy, bulky, intrusive, loud, and all-around-a-pain vacuum once you discover the wireless vacuum. There are numerous brands to choose from, almost all of them incredibly easy to use and fairly reasonable in price.
Or Even Better, Buy a Roomba
If vacuuming is your least favorite activity of all the cleaning activities, then you can bet your money on the Roomba, because it’s a robot vacuum. It does all the vacuuming for you, the only caveat is when it gets stuck or runs away and you must guide it back to where it’s supposed to be vacuuming. You can put the charger under your bed, and it will go back to charge when it is low battery, so it is incredibly self-sustaining.
Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day Multi-Surface Everyday Cleaner
You’ve probably seen this cleaner everywhere by now. It’s an alternative to harsh cleaners, like bleach and many popular brand-name chemicals. It has a light and fresh smell to it that is completely opposite to harsh chemical bleach or similar products. If you haven’t switched over to a natural cleaning brand, Mrs. Meyer’s is a great option. Harsh chemicals just aren’t necessary for the everyday cleaning of tables and countertops. In fact, it ruins the material. Even granite can be ruined by harsh chemicals. Stick with water or try out Mrs. Meyers. You just might convert.
Wooden Kitchen Tools
Plastic is out, wood is in. Plastic has been in the consumer world for quite some time because it lasts so long and is durable. However, many are pushing back against single-use plastic (plastic that is used once and thrown away or used generally in the short term), because it does not decompose very easily and overwhelms the landfills. Wood is a popular alternative to kitchen supplies because wood is also durable, but it is more environmentally sound once the tools are ready to be thrown out because wood can be repurposed more easily and breaks down much quicker than plastic.
Compostable Scrub Sponge
Did you know your average sponge is made with plastic? Believe it or not, there are alternatives to plastic sponges. The compostable sponges are the same as regular sponges, but they are not made with plastic and will break down after being tossed in the garbage with so much more ease.
Soap Tablets
Instead of buying single-use plastic containers whenever you buy your hand soap, you can buy a tin of tablets and just clean a reusable container. Tablets take up much less space and can be easily combined with water to form a soapy substance.
Dryer Balls
Are you still using dryer sheets and throwing away a couple of sheets every single time you dry your laundry? Consider using dryer balls to reduce drying time. They effectively separate clothes in the dryer, so they don’t clump together.
Have you tried any or all of these modern cleaning supplies? Then you are on the right path when it comes to being aware of your environmental impact and your personal time. At MSNW, we do our best to use products that are environmentally friendly and tools that can be used repeatedly. We care about our environmental impact.
